Understand your Liver to Achieve Healthy Weight Loss

Many people start out a weight loss regimen and feel frustration when they do not see results right away. In order to learn about fast and healthy weight loss, you must first understand how your body works, most importantly the liver. You may be suffering lower weight loss potential because of damage already done and you have to take a few steps to understand the root of the problem and how to properly restore your liver function.

What does your liver actually do?

LiverThe liver removes toxins from the body that we eat or drink. It does this through a variety of functions through the skin, kidneys, colon, lungs, or the lymph system. When you eat or drink bad foods, you will eventually consume more than the liver can remove and your system gets clogged. These toxins will make the liver less able to function and the toxins can make your body sick. A few symptoms and illnesses associated with decreased liver function are:

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Brownish spots on the skin, also called “liver spots”
  • Acne, eczema, and other skin disorders
  • Weight gain, sluggishness, chronic fatigue
  • Increased cancer risk due to toxins
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease

The liver processes the fats we eat and sends it to the colon. Not eating enough fiber which bonds to this fat in the colon can cause the colon to send this fat to the liver to be reprocessed. The liver then stores this fat in the body, especially in the midsection which causes the “pot belly” effect. Trans-fatty acids are especially dangerous as the liver does not even attempt to process these and simply attempts to send them out.

How can you reverse the damage?

no-fast-foodIn order to achieve fast and healthy weight loss, you must now restore the liver to healthy working order. This can be done but it takes a few things that you must do. The first thing you must do is to stop eating the bad, processed, fatty foods that caused the problem in the first place. You can then begin to eat quality foods that the liver wants to process and make fuel for the body. These foods include all of the quality vegetables and fruits as they contain antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and especially fiber which will help the liver remove excess fat and toxins from the body.

If you cannot get enough fruits and veggies through the diet, a quality vegetable juice drink will help. It is best to ingest these foods in their natural state but a good juice regimen is a decent substitute. Quality lean proteins such as fish, eggs, and poultry are also good for the liver as they contain far less fat than their red meat counterparts. Brown rice makes a great substitute for the bad carbohydrates found in processed foods.

You can also create a great liver detox formula using a formula of the juice of one lemon, one teaspoon each of aloe vera and chlorophyll, and 8 ounces of water. The lemon juice helps the liver produce bile which helps the body remove harmful fat. Chlorophyll detoxifies the colon which allows more fat to pass through and aloe vera and lemon juice both help stimulate healthy colon function. This easy to make concoction is one of the best liver detox drinks you can make and it’s also by far the cheapest. Many other liver detox formulas are sold on the market for almost 10-20 times as much as this simple homemade formula.

How will this help achieve weight loss goals?

As you begin to learn about fast and healthy weight loss, you learn just how your renewed healthy liver detoxifies the body and keeps you healthy through the removal of fat from the body. Here are just a few of the effects on the body from a renewed, healthy liver.

  • Healthier looking skin which glows and looks fresh without makeup or other additives.
  • Renewed strength and energy which will motivate you towards more exercise and other activities.
  • Better health as you enjoy the benefits of eating healthier. Good foods taste good and give the body much needed nutrients without the need for sodium and other additives.
  • Weight loss through not only better ability to exercise and eat properly but through the fat removal effects of a healthy liver.

In order to achieve fast and healthy weight loss, you must understand how your body functions and processes the foods you eat. Now that you fully understand how the foods we eat undermine our body and weight loss goals, you can begin a pathway to good health and excellent weight loss. You will not only look better but you will also feel better too. Best of all, it doesn’t require any pills or tricks to achieve as all you need to do is eat and drink healthy, exercise, and get good sleep to achieve total body health and weight loss.

Stop Late Night Snacking and Reach Your Weight Loss Goals

Lock.cdrReaching weight loss goals has much to do with time and discipline. You want to set a natural rhythm for your body when it comes to eating how much and when. This will not only set a good pattern for you but also for your body’s metabolism. Unfortunately, the urge to do a little late night snacking is often much higher during these times but in order to fully make good on your efforts you must resist this urge.

Studies have shown that the body does not metabolize food nearly as well while you are sleeping if you have not digested completely before going to bed and that a quality eating schedule trains your body to metabolize properly. You must understand that those late night snacks are just sitting in the stomach and not being used as body fuel. This can cause heartburn as well as reflux which disturbs your sleep and the body’s natural renewal process.

This type of snacking is the worst of ways to kill your weight loss goals. You want to train yourself and your body to eat several hours before you sleep so you can properly metabolize your meal before you begin to sleep. A great habit to perform before you go to bed is to drink a glass or two of water. Adding some lemon concentrated juice is also very beneficial. This will not only keep you feeling full and not have the urge to snack, many studies have shown that drinking water before sleep has great health and weight loss benefits. You not only help your body remove toxins, you also greatly assist the body in flushing fat from the system.

Reaching weight loss goals takes patience, proper diet, exercise, and most importantly discipline. Late night snacking can often ruin a good day’s work and leave you feeling disappointed and without the flat belly you were working hard to achieve. Do yourself and your body a favor and curb the urge to snack when you should be sleeping. This will give your engine the proper cool down it needs to work at top speed.

Build your Legs to Build the Foundation of Your Temple

A health and weight loss expert will tell you that most women assume that the secret to looking great is a flat, toned midsection. This is however incorrect since most experts will tell you that the secret to burning fat and looking good is all in the legs. Building your legs first and working your way up is an important key to building a healthy body and burning tons of fat.

If you think of your body as a temple, you should understand that you have to build one from the ground up. A strong foundation will serve the rest of the construction and ensure quality. The same goes for the body as strong legs will keep the rest of the body in good posture and give you the ability to exercise more. The lean muscle in the legs acts as a fat burning furnace and even without knowing it, you will burn tummy fat through stronger, slimmer legs. Here are a few of the great exercises to help you build your legs and reach your weight loss goals.

  • Squats: This exercise works everything from the lower back all the way to the feet. Be sure to keep proper form all the way through the exercise to reduce strain and risk to the lower back.
  • Lunges: This exercise works the thighs and strengthens tendons in the knees and hips giving you better strength as well as mobility.
  • Bridges are an awesome, yet easy exercise you can perform anywhere. This exercise shapes all parts of the lower body and burns fat.
  • You can also do plenty of other exercises outside the gym. Stair stepping, walking, and even simple stretching all help to build your legs and increase your fat burning efforts.

Any health and weight loss expert will further tell you how you can build your legs and set the foundation to a firmer, better looking midsection. You will not only look better in any outfit, you will feel better and healthier too.

Hydrate Properly to Reach your Weight Loss Goals

One of the best healthy weight loss tips you will ever get from a trainer is to drink plenty of water before, during and post workout. Not only will you not experience many of the negative effects of a heavy workout, you will also speed up your weight loss and lose inches where you do not want them and gain a few in just the right places.

For pre-workout, you should consume at least 30 ounces of water about 2 hours prior to exercise. This will keep you from experiencing the dizziness, muscle cramps and fatigue that many feel within the first 30 minutes of exercise. You will also not feel as much of an urge to eat a bigger meal before workout which not only negates the workout itself but will leave you tired, bloated and far less motivated to do a good workout.

During workout, one of the best weight loss tips is to keep your body hydrated by drinking about 10 ounces of water for every 15 minutes of exercise. This can vary based on size, severity of the exercise, or the amount of sweat you produce. Not hydrating properly during your workout increases the strain on your system and can cause severe problems including heatstroke. The buildup of lactic acid in your muscles during workouts is what causes the muscle soreness in the following days and drinking proper amounts of water during the workout flushes much of that acid out of the system leaving you feeling much better later on. You also keep the engine of your body burning properly which boosts metabolism and burns fat.

Hydrating properly post workout is one of the best healthy weight loss tips as you not only restore the water and electrolytes lost during the workout; you also reduce the urge to eat a large meal as your stomach feels fuller. This is important since your body needs recovery time after workout and although light fruits and veggies are a great post-workout snack, a larger meal will sit too heavy on the stomach and not be as easily digested.

Body and Colon Cleansing for a Healthy Diabetic Lifestyle

Detoxification, Rejuvenation & Wellness!

It is a well known fact that colon cleansing has many healthy effects. From ridding the body of harmful toxins that could affect other organs to assisting with a fast and healthy weight loss regimen, this periodic treatment is good for just about everyone. Since the colon has a partial effect on blood sugar, this treatment is especially good for diabetics coupled with a healthy lifestyle.

As long as the practitioner uses all natural means to cleanse the colon, the process should have no adverse reactions for the diabetic patient. The toxins removed by the colon cleanse process will often affect metabolism, blood sugar, as well as liver and kidney function. Also the practitioner needs to know that since many colon cleansing diets require fasting which is something that is extremely bad for a diabetic patient, a more gradual approach may be needed. Instead of fasting, a diabetic patient can consume large amounts of water as well as raw, organic juices which will provide the fiber that will really help with the colon cleansing process prior to the clinical visit.

Although periodic colon cleansing really helps with diabetic function, most patients should already be engaged in a healthy colon cleansing diet of fiber rich foods as well as all natural products such as fruits and vegetables. This will not only help with colon cleansing but also the body cleansing that many diabetics have trouble with.

With diabetics especially, body cleansing can be a real problem since they often have to take many medications to stave off the effects of their disease. What diabetics should learn to achieve is the need for fewer medications and more of the all-natural foods that will improve liver and kidney function and even reverse many effects of diabetes. Colon and body cleansing go hand in hand to improve metabolism and organ function and should include the following:

  • All natural juices: these drinks have natural unprocessed sugars which require less insulin to process as well as the vitamins, minerals and fiber which will flush the body of toxins which would otherwise return to the liver.
  • Lighter proteins: leaner meats such as fish and poultry have great flavor as well as less fat than their red meat counterparts which can often clog the colon and make colon cleansing less effective. Beans are also a decent substitute for meat protein and high in both protein and fiber and typically a staple of a colon cleansing diet.
  • Water: Why people do not drink enough water is beyond me. This is by far the best way to flush toxins from the body and make every organ run at max efficiency. This will be a diabetic’s best friend if properly utilized and the best body cleansing tool in a healthy lifestyle.
  • Fruits and Vegetables: Raw fruits and vegetables contain great amounts of vitamins as well as the natural sugars that your body can easily process. The fiber contained in these foods will really help with colon cleansing.

Body cleansing for diabetics is both the periodic colon cleansing and the healthy lifestyle of good foods and plenty of water which is essential for reaching weight loss goals. This will ensure proper functioning of all organs and the removal of toxins that effect metabolism and blood sugar which are the key to maintaining a healthy diabetic lifestyle.

A Healthy Liver; Essential for a Healthy Life

Did you know that the liver is the largest gland, and the largest solid organ in the body? Did you know that your liver performs over 5,000 important functions every minute of the day to keep your body going?

If you place your right hand over the area under the ribs on the right side of your body it will just about cover the area of your liver. It weighs some 1.8kg in men and 1.3kg in women and holds approximately 13% of your total blood supply at any given moment.

The liver is dark reddish brown in color and is divided into two main lobes (the much larger right and the smaller left), which are further subdivided into approximately 100,000 small lobes, or lobules.

About 60% of the liver is made up of liver cells called hepatocytes which absorb nutrients and detoxify and remove harmful substances from the blood. A hepatocyte has an average lifespan of 150 days. There are approximately 202,000 in every milligram of your liver tissue. It receives its blood supply via the hepatic artery and portal vein (which transports nutrients from your intestine or gut).

Now lets take a look at the functions of the liver. It has a multitude of important and complex functions. Some of these functions are to:

  • Manufacture (synthesize) proteins, to help maintain the volume of blood and blood clotting factors.
  • Synthesize, store and process fats, including fatty acids (used for energy) and cholesterol.
  • Metabolize and store carbohydrates, which are used as the source for the sugar (glucose) in blood that red blood cells and the brain use.
  • Form and secrete bile that contains bile acids to aid in the intestinal absorption (taking in) of fats and the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.
  • Eliminate, by metabolizing and or secreting, the potentially harmful biochemical products produced by the body, such as ammonia from the breakdown of proteins.
  • Detoxify, by metabolizing and or secreting, drugs, alcohol and environmental toxins.
  • Combating infections in the body.

The two most important functions of the liver:

Producing quick energy – One of your liver’s most important functions is to break down food and convert it into energy when you need it. Carbohydrates such as bread and potatoes from our diet are broken down to glucose and stored mainly in the liver and muscles as glycogen. When energy is required in an emergency, the liver rapidly converts its store of glycogen back into glucose ready for the body to use.

Your liver also helps the body to get rid of waste products. Waste products that are not excreted by your kidneys are removed from the blood by the liver. Some of them pass into the duodenum and then into the bowel via the bile ducts. Fighting infections – your liver plays a vital role in fighting infections, particularly infections arising in the bowel. It does this by mobilizing part of your body’s defense mechanism and if the liver is damaged in any way, its ability to fight infections is impaired.

A healthy liver is therefore essential to a healthy life!

Diets Are Not Natural

healthy-mindEveryone wants to discover the secrets regarding reaching weight loss goals. Most people think there is some secret super diet or magical pill that is going to resolve their weight problem for them. Unfortunately, diets are not natural and there is not a magical pill that is going to make your weight disappear. Losing weight is about hard work, passion, dedication, and commitment. What most people do not realize is that weight loss starts in your mind. In order to be successful in achieving your weight loss goals you must start with erasing negative thoughts from your mind. You have to really believe that you can lose the weight.

The most important thing an individual has to avoid when reaching weight loss goals is diets. Contrary to popular belief, diets do not actually help an individual to lose weight. Keep in mind; it is perfectly normal for an individual to actually lose weight while they are on a diet. However, the vast majority of the time it is just as normal for a person to quickly regain all that weight after they have stepped away from the diet for a while. Unfortunately, this is because diets are not natural and they are not healthy.

Think about it. What do most diets consist of? They consist of depriving your body of something. In most cases, they consist of depriving your body of something it actually needs. It is better for you to eat healthy, wholesome meals than to try depriving your body of something it wants. Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with splurging and giving into your cravings every once in a while. In fact, there are a lot of theories and medical experts that suggest that the body only craves something when it needs it. For example, pregnant women tend to crave food that contains certain nutrients or vitamins that their body is presently lacking. You just have to give into temptations and cravings in moderation. This means you can have a slice of that chocolate cake, just don’t eat the whole cake.

For a lot of obvious reasons, committing to any type of fasting diet is an even worse idea than just a regular diet. When an individual pursues a fasting diet they usually stop eating food all together. Some will only drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice and others will only drink water. Regardless of which fasting diet tempts you, they are all horrible for the human body. This is because when the human body is starved of food it goes into shock which is also referred to as survival or starvation mode. When this occurs the body will store any food eaten in the future as body fat. This is to provide itself with a backup fuel/energy source. Most people do not even realize that the fasting diet actually achieves the opposite of its intended purpose.

Certain Fats Are Good For You

Good-Fats-Vs-Bad-Fats

It’s important to take sufficient amount of omega-3 fatty acids daily. The deficiency in omega-3 fatty acids will lead to a number of degenerative diseases.

How much omega-3 fatty acids should I take daily?

Our intake of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) should be at least one-third of our total fat intake. According to the American Heart Association, people who have heart disease need to take one gram of EPA + DHA per day. Dosages between two and four grams per day are used to lower triglycerides.

What are the sources of omega-3 fatty acids?

  • Coldwater fish such as mackerel, tuna, salmon and sardines
  • Cod liver
  • Flaxseed and canola oils
  • Soybeans and tofu
  • Walnuts

To increase the intake of omega-3 fatty acids, you should eat fish at least twice a week. This amount is recommended by the American Heart Association. If you are unable to consistently take omega-3 fatty acids from natural sources, it is important to boost your diet with omega-3 supplements.

How can omega-3 fatty acids help in my overall health?

1) Improve heart health (cholesterol, hypertension and heartbeat).

EFAs play an important role in ensuring low bad cholesterol level, stabilizing irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and reducing blood pressure. It is also a natural blood thinner by reducing stickiness of blood cells (platelet aggregation), which can lead to complications such as blood clots and stroke.

2) Support rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other autoimmune condition.

Omega-3 supports those with autoimmune condition by reducing inflammation. EPA and DHA can be converted into natural anti inflammatory substances called prostaglandins and leukotrienes, compounds that help decrease inflammation and pain.

Many studies reported that those with inflammatory diseases experienced improvement in their condition such as less joint stiffness, reduce in swelling and tenderness as well as feeling less fatigued when they include omega-3 In their diet

3) Manage depression and symptoms of other mental health problems.

The brain consists o f 60% fats and needs omega-3s to function optimally. Researchers discovered a link between mood disorders and the presence of low concentrations of omega-3 in the body. Omega-3 fatty acids help to ensure the brain’s pattern of thoughts, reactions and reflexes run smoothly and efficiently. Omega-3s help to keep the brain’s pattern of thoughts, reactions, and reflexes running smoothly and efficiently.

4) Reduce the risk of cancer.

Preliminary research from the University of California, Los Angeles, suggests that omega-3 may help maintain healthy breast tissue and reduce the risk of breast cancer.

5) Increase energy and aid in weight loss.

EFAs enhance thermogenesis (increase in energy expenditure), help to boost energy levels and suppress appetite thus, aiding in weight Ion, It can also block the genes that produce fat in the body (saturated and Trans fat have the same effect) and Increase thermo genesis.

6) Regulate organs and glands.

EFAs are needed to produce male and female hormones.

7) Support healthy child development.

A growing fetus needs an optimum amount of EFAs from the mother’s body. Mothers become depleted of EFAs during pregnancy.

8) Produce beautiful skin, hair, and nails.

Some of the first signs of EFA deficiency are dry, flaky skin, dull hair and brittle nails. Omega-3 can help skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne. GLA (an Omega-6 derivative) administration is also useful for patients with atopic eczema.

Weight Loss Supplements

rapid-weight-loss-tipsOne of the most commonly asked questions by individuals all over the world is: What can I do to lose weight fast and healthy? Unfortunately, the first problem with this question is that trying to lose weight fast is not really a health approach. In fact, the healthiest way to lose weight is through a slow and gradual process. That is why it is pretty common to hear individuals talk about how it took months (or even years) to achieve their weight loss goals.

Now, this information is not meant to be discouraging. Weight loss is not an impossible task; it is just important to realize that it is not an easy one either. There are going to be times where you feel like you cannot do it and times where you just want to give up. The first key to figuring out how to lose weight fast and healthy is to throw out the word fast. Then, you have to push out those negative thoughts and never give up. Anyone can lose weight as long as they keep pushing themselves until their weight loss goals are achieved.

When posed with the question: what can I do to lose weight fast and healthy, it may be a good idea for an individual to consider weight loss supplements. The most important thing for you to realize is that weight loss supplements and diet pills are not the same thing.

B12Supplements are all-natural pills that are created to be completely safe and healthy. For example, B12 is a fairly popular supplement that a lot of individuals like to use to help with weight loss. This is because B12 is an energy booster supplement. It makes a person able to stay awake for longer and do more. Obviously, a natural energy booster is going to have your body working in overdrive. In addition to the fact that you are going to be getting up and moving around more – the vitamin itself has your body working harder. Your body is going to be burning extra calories and body fat naturally as a result of taking this supplement.

There is nothing wrong with using weight loss supplements to help you lose weight fast and healthy. However, it is important that you use the supplements in moderation. It is also a good idea to discuss what supplements you are taking with your doctor. While the rule of thumb is that they are all-natural and filled with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients – too much of anything can be a bad thing. It is also important to realize that weight loss supplements are not enough to make you drop the weight. They are called a supplement for a reason. They are meant to be used in addition to other things such as eating healthy meals and dedicating to a daily exercise regimen. It is the combination of changes you make in your lifestyle that make you successful in your strides to lose weight.

Understanding How to Lose Weight Fast and Healthy

smallstepsGaining weight can take several weeks to several months. It should not be expected that it all come off quickly. However, it is possible to lose weight fast and healthy. The best way to understand about weight loss is to understand how body fat occurs.

Diets are not something that can work in the traditional sense. The key is knowing how many calories you take in and then figure out how many pounds you want to lose. That is because 3500 calories can equal one pound of fat. Therefore, if you want to lose two pounds a week, then you need to reduce your diet by 7,000 calories. The healthiest way to lose weight fast is to lose no more than three pounds a week. or reducing your diet by 1500 calories a day. But two pounds a day is a more encouraging and feasible goal. This is why it is normally believed that if you eat 1000 calories less a day, you will lose roughly two pounds a week. Depending on the size of the body, type of work or activities, everyone needs different calorie intake but most people need at least 2000 calories a day.

The next way to lose weight fast is by eliminating the simple sugars in your diet, and increasing your water intake. Water intake helps you feel full and it is calorie free. The other problem with simple sugars is it can quickly cause the infamous sugar belly. That is when a person retains fat around their stomach due to soda, energy drinks, coffee, sports drinks (Gatorade), and any processed food. We also often hear about beer belly for the regular beer drinker. No need to elaborate on this.

planBy understanding how fat is accumulated, then you can lose weight. The only way to lose weight quickly is to change how you live and find people to support you. This support does not have to be in the way of friends, although those are the best. Many programs have support systems in place because of how important it is for losing weight.

One of the biggest reasons that support is important is because the biggest downfall people have in weight loss is emotional eating. It can hinder all weight loss to the point where you will not lose weight but gain weight. When you stop emotional eating, you will lose weight fast.

Eating fiber, eating slowly, turn the television off, and pay attention to what you are eating. There is no limit on eating raw vegetables and you get much vitamins, minerals and fiber.
